At Udaipur in Sajek of Rangamati district, a dump truck lost control and plunged into a ditch, killing 5 people on the spot and 3 others on the way to the hospital and one under treatment in the hospital. A total of 9 people have died in this incident so far.
Sajek Police Station Circle Officer and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Awal Chowdhury confirmed the fact that 9 people died in the accident and said that the incident took place on Wednesday at a place called 90 degrees on the border road. The truck lost control and plunged into a 100 feet deep ditch on the mountain, twisting and twisting. Army personnel and locals rescued them.
Among the deceased, whose identities have been found – Abdul Mohan (16) of Kishoreganj, Tongir Sagar (22) of Gazipur, Babu (20) of Kishoreganj and Aliullah (35) of Kapasia of Gazipur.

The injured are – Md. Lalon (18), Ahir Uddin (40) and his son Samiul (19), Mubarak Hossain (32), Lalon (18) and Zahid Hasan (24).
Among the injured, Sagar Deb, a doctor at the emergency department of Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, said that Ahir Uddin is critical.
Injured Md. Lalon said, they were going in a dump truck to construct a bridge in Udaipur of Baghaichhari upazila. While descending a big hill, the car lost control and fell into a deep ditch. There were 15 people in the car including the piling machine.
3 people are under treatment at Khagrachari Modern Hospital. Relatives took 2 seriously injured people to Dhaka for better treatment.
