Earlier on Wednesday, at one stage of the protest, the students took a position in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office and locked the main gate of the office. Later around seven in the evening Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, Vice-Chancellor Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Registrar Sheikh Muhammad Humayun Kabir, Director of Student Welfare Department Rezaul Karim and some teachers came down the building and talked to the students. At this time, the students urged the university administration to sit in the discussion.

The students said that today they are going to discuss with the university administration. Saiful Islam, deputy director of the student welfare department of the university, told Prothom Alo, ‘We will sit in discussion with the students in the academic council room around 12:30 in the afternoon. Hopefully a solution will come.’

Shanto Saha, a third-year student of Civil Engineering department of Chuet and Taufiq Hossain, a second-year student of the same department, died after being hit by a bus in Chittagong’s Rangunia police station Jianagar at approximately 3:30 pm last Monday. In addition, Zakaria Himu, a second year student of the same department, was injured.

In view of this, the road was blocked for the first time last Monday at seven o’clock in the evening. After that, the blockade of students and class-examination boycott has been going on since 10 am yesterday on Wednesday.
