Husband arrested for killing Satkhira Patkelghata’s ex-wife in Jessore

A young woman named Khadija Khatun alias Mitu Karmakar was murdered by her ex-husband in Jessore. They got married two years ago. The separation took place the following year. A year after the separation, the ex-husband called Jessore and killed Mitu by strangulation.

The murder took place near Bukwara Baor of Mathbaria village of Sadar Upazila’s Deyara Union on Tuesday night. Police recovered the body on Wednesday morning. An hour later, the murderer’s ex-husband Mrinmoy Bhadra Niloy was arrested. The arrested Niloy is the son of Madan Bhadra of Damodarkathi village of Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira. At present, he is a resident of Chandutia village of Deyara Union of Jessore Sadar Upazila. Mitu is the daughter of Ajgar Ali Sardar of Dhandia Chowrasta, Patkelghata, Satkhira.

Locals said that the body of a woman wearing a sari was reported to the police on Wednesday morning. A mobile phone was also seen with him. Police, PBI, RAB and law enforcement officers went to the spot and tried to identify the deceased.

DB Police OC Rupan Kumar Sarkar said that SI Khan Maidul Islam Rajeev went to the spot after receiving the information around 8 am on Wednesday. Parts of a broken mobile phone set were lying next to the body. The identity was first identified on the basis of that phone set. Later, the youth named Niloy was arrested from a house in Chandutia village around 10 am. After his arrest, Niloy confessed to killing Mitu Karmakar during preliminary interrogation.

Niloy DB also told the police that he met Mitu three years ago at a dance event in Patkelghata. After a year, Mitu converted and married him. After a year of marriage, Mitu made a false complaint against him at the police station and stole three lakh rupees. After this incident, they broke up. But still Mitu did not leave behind Niloy. Mitu used to extort money from him by threatening to publish various intimate pictures. Due to these reasons, last Tuesday evening Mitu was called to Jessore by mobile phone. Later that day at around 11 o’clock in the night, he took him to Bikash’s paddy field near Bukwara Baor of Mathbaria village and strangled him to death. After the murder, Mitu broke the mobile phone set.
Investigation officer of the case SI Khan Maidul Islam Rajeev said, Mitu was originally a dancer. The family did not like it. At one point he voluntarily accepted Sanatan religion from Muslims. He was addicted to drugs. He also has a drug case against him.

SI Rajeev also said that the body was handed over to the family on Wednesday afternoon.
