Four of the 9 people killed in Rangamati’s Sajeke drum truck lost control and fell into a 100-feet deep ditch, have been identified. At that time, the police also identified the identity of the six injured.
The accident occurred on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon in the ’90 degree’ area of the Udaipur border road in Sajek where a dump truck carrying workers fell into a ditch. At this time, 9 people were killed and 6 people were injured.
The deceased are – Abdul Mohan (16) of Kishoreganj, Babu (20) of the same district, Tangir Sagar (22) of Gazipur, Aliullah (35) of Kapasia. The bodies of 5 more people killed in this incident are in Sajek police station.
The injured are – son of Abul Hashem of Sreepur, Mymensingh. Lalon (18), Ahir Uddin (40) of Gazipur and his son Samiul (19), Mubarak Hossain (32) son of Maqbul Hossain of Ishwarganj, Sripur, Lalon (18) son of Abzal Mia of Roumari, Kurigram and Zahid Hasan (24) of Shyamganj, Mymensingh.
Sajek Police Station Circle Officer and Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Awal Chowdhury confirmed the matter.
He said, this accident happened at the place called ’90 degrees’ on the border road. The truck lost control and fell into a 100-feet-deep ditch on the mountain. Five people died on the spot and three died on the way to the hospital. Another person later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. 6 more people were injured in this incident.
Injured in the hospital. Lalon said, they were traveling in a drum truck to build a bridge in Udaipur of Baghaichhari upazila. While descending a big hill, the car lost control and fell into a deep ditch. There were 15 people in the car including the piling machine.
