A child named Minhaj (10) died after falling from the roof of a three-storey building in Phulghazi, Feni. The accident took place in a building adjacent to Bhai Bhai Auto Rice Mill in Munsirhat area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon.

Deceased Minhaj is the second son of Abdul Matin Chowdhury of Kamua Chowdhury village of Munsirhat Union. He is a 4th grader in a local kindergarten.

According to police and local sources, as Minhaj’s father was abroad, he lived with his mother in a rented house in that area. On Wednesday, while climbing the roof railing of the house and trying to step on the railing of another nearby building, he accidentally fell down. Later the locals rescued him and took him first to Fulgazi Upazila Health Complex and then to Feni General Hospital. As the condition was serious, the doctor on duty advised to take him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. He died on the way when he reached Chittagong city area.

Local UP member Azizul Haque Majumdar Tipu said that Minhaj fell from the roof while playing in the morning. His father left Dubai for home after receiving the news of his son’s death. When he reaches home, Minhaj will be buried in the family graveyard in East Durbarpur of the upazila.

Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fulgazi police station, said that he died on the way to Chittagong. Following the request of the deceased’s family, his body will be buried without an autopsy.
