Khagrachari and Rangamati: Three more deaths have been reported after a dump truck lost control and fell into a ditch in Udaipur of Sajek Union of Rangamati’s Baghaichhari Upazila. Earlier, six people were killed on the spot of the accident. As a result, the number of people killed in this accident has increased to 9 people.
Seven more people were injured in this accident. They are being treated at Khagrachari Sadar Hospital.
The accident happened on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon in the ninety degree area of Udaipur. All the injured in the accident are workers. The administration could not reveal the names of the victims. However, most of their homes are known to be Kishoreganj, Kurigram and Gazipur.

According to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital and police sources, seven people were taken from the accident site in a truck and three others in a jeep to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital. Trucks and jeeps carrying the injured reached the district headquarters hospital around 9:30 pm. At this time, the doctor on duty in the emergency department declared the three dead. Sagar Dev Tapu.
Doctors said that currently seven people injured in the accident are being treated in the hospital. The condition of five of them is critical.
Earlier in the evening, Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shirin Akhter said that the dump truck carrying 14 laborers engaged in border link road work in Udaipur lost control and overturned on their way back to their destination.
Circle Officer of Sajek Police Station Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Awal Chowdhury said that the accident took place at a place called ninety degrees on the border road. The truck lost control and plunged into a 100-feet-deep gully on the mountain, twisting the vehicle. Army personnel and locals rescued them.
Sajek Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Atulal Chakma said that in the afternoon, the workers were being taken to the work of pitch casting on the border road. The truck lost control at the intersection in the ninety degree area of the Udaipur border road. Six people died immediately. The rest were injured.
Meanwhile, the least injured in the accident. Lalan (18). He said that they were going from Gazipur as construction workers to work on a bridge on the border road. Everyone in the truck was injured. However, he could not tell their names immediately.
