Meherpur: A man named Haji Abdul Bari (70) died of heat stroke in Ganadob village of Gangni upazila of Meherpur.

He died on the way while being taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex when he fell ill due to extreme heat on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon.

Abdul Barik’s son-in-law Abdur Razzak said, he was walking outside the house at noon. If he feels bad, he comes home. Then he fell ill. He died on the way while being rushed to Gangni Upazila Health Complex.

Jaminur Reza, officer-in-charge of the Chuadanga Regional Meteorological Department, said the maximum temperature in Chuadanga at 6 pm was 43.2 degrees Celsius and the air humidity was 34 percent.

The temperature has been fluctuating between 42 and 43 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga region of Meherpur for the past one week. Extreme heat has caused extreme discomfort to people and animals.
