An Awami League leader named Zulfikar Ali died in a motorcycle accident at Dhunte in Bogra. He is the president of Kalerpara Union Awami League of the upazila.

The accident took place at Thanapara area on the Dhunat-Sonahata paved road around 10 pm on Wednesday (April 24). He was a resident of Sarugram in the upazila.

According to family sources of the deceased, Zulfikar Ali was an assistant teacher of Surugram High School. After retirement, he is the president of the management committee of that school. Besides, he has been elected president of Kalerpara Union Awami League of Dhunat Upazila for a long time.

Around 10 o’clock on Wednesday, he left his home on a motorcycle towards the upazila city. On the way, he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a mango tree in Thanapara area of ​​Dhunat-Sonahata road and was injured.

At that time, the people around rescued him and took him to Dhunat Upazila Health Complex. As his condition was critical there, he was immediately shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. When he was taken to the emergency department, the doctors there declared him brought dead.

Saikat Hasan, OC of Dhunot police station, said that as there was no complaint from the family, permission was given to bury the body after the legal process.
