Cox’s Bazar: RAB has arrested seven accused from Mohipal in Feni in the case of hacking and shooting death of a youth while ‘preparing for Iftar’ at Chakria in Cox’s Bazar.
On Wednesday (April 24) in the afternoon at the RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Battalion office, this information was given by the battalion’s Senior Assistant Director (Operation) and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Hossain Shamim.
The arrested are – Aktar Ahmad son of Malumghat East Dumkhali area of Dulahazara Union of Chakaria Upazila. Nurul Alam (32), son of Chayed Alam. Shah Alam (27), son of Noor Ahmed Abu Bakkar (27), son of deceased Siddique Ahmed. Azizul Haque (40), Syed Ahmed’s son Mansoor Alam (32), Ibrahim Khalil’s son Md. Nurul Anwar (33), son of Abu Hanif (32) and Aktar Ahmad.
RAB said that on Tuesday evening, a team of RAB conducted an operation on the information about the location of some of the accused in the case including the main planner and the main accused in the Mohipal area of Feni district. 7 accused accused were arrested while hiding in a residential house there.
Anwar Hossain said that on the evening of March 25, Abdur Rahman was preparing for Iftar with his friends at a shop in East Dumkhali Station of Dullahazara Union in Chakria. At this time, a group of miscreants took him away at gunpoint. He was later hacked and shot dead. In this incident, Sabina Yasmil, the wife of the victim, filed a case at Chakaria police station, naming 19 people and accusing 34 people.
The RAB official also said that after the filing of the case, along with the police, the RAB also started an operation to arrest those involved in the incident. At some point on Tuesday evening, RAB received information that some of the accused including the main planner of the incident, Mansoor Alam, are hiding in Mohipal area of Feni district. Later a team of RAB raided there and arrested 7 people. The arrested accused have been handed over to Chakaria police station.
