A 10-year-old child died after falling from the roof of a 3-storey building in Phulgazi, Feni. The accident took place yesterday Wednesday when a 3-storey building fell opposite the health complex of Munsirhat Union of the upazila.
The dead child’s name is Minhaj Uddin. He is said to be a fourth grade student of a local kindergarten. He is the son of expatriate Abdul Matin Chowdhury, the tenant of that building. He is a resident of Chowdhury house in Kamua village of Munsirhat union.
According to relatives and local sources, the expatriate Abdul Matin Chowdhury, a resident of Munsirhat Kamua village, lived on the third floor of a rented house with his wife and two children. Yesterday around seven in the morning, the child Minhaj was called by his mother to go to the school.
Meanwhile, Minhaj tried to hide in the cornice of the roof of the 3-storey building instead of going to the Maktab. At one point he fell down from there and got seriously injured. Local people rescued him in an injured state and took him to Feni 250 Bed General Hospital, but on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment, Minhaj died on the way.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fulgazi Police Station Nizam Uddin confirmed the death of the child who fell from the 3rd floor building and said that the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy in view of the family’s request.
