Body of converted woman found in Jessore

The police recovered the body of a converted woman named Khadija Khatun alias Mitu Karmakar in Jessore. The ex-husband has been arrested for his involvement in the incident.

On Wednesday (April 24) morning, Jessore District DB and Kotwali police station recovered the body from Mathbaria Bukwara Baor of Deyaara Union of the district.

The deceased Khadija Khatun alias Mitu Karmakar is the daughter of Azgar Ali Sardar of Dhandiya Krinchnagar village of Patkelghata police station area of ​​Satkhira district.

Meanwhile, the police arrested her ex-husband Mrinmoy Bhadra alias Niloy, son of Madankumar Bhadra of Damodar Kathi village of Kalaroa police station of Satkhira district, on the charge of strangling Khadija Khatun.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rupan Kumar Sarkar of District Intelligence Branch (DB) Police informed this information through a press conference at Jessore District Intelligence Branch (DB) Police Office on Wednesday (April 24) afternoon.

He said that the police recovered the body of the victim through the locals at around 8 o’clock on Wednesday morning. Later, within 1 hour, the alleged husband of Khadija Khatun, Mrinmoy Bhadra, was arrested from Jessore Sadar Upazila Chandutia village.

This police officer said that during the preliminary interrogation of Mrinmoy Bhadra, it was known that the deceased Khadija Khatun was a dancer. Earlier she had converted and married a Hindu boy. Later Khadija got married to him.

According to the police, Mrinmoy admitted that he brought Khadija to Jessore for a walk, strangled her to death around 11 pm, broke her mobile phone and left it at the spot.

The police recovered two broken mobile phones of Khadija and a motorcycle and a mobile phone used by the arrested Mrinmoy.

The OC also said that the case is under process at Jessore Kotwali police station.
