A young man named Samar Jaldas (33) has been arrested by the police on the charge of strangling his wife in Chittagong’s Sandwip. He was arrested on Tuesday (April 23).
A resident of Beribandh area of Ward No. 5 of Samar Sarikait Union.
It is known that after some time of marriage, he started physically and mentally torturing the victim due to illness and on various pretexts. Last April 20 morning a meeting was held under the leadership of a local UP member. In the meeting, Samar accused his wife of adultery. However, in the meeting, the Shaliskars blamed Samar and slapped them. Later, when the people left, Samar got angry and strangled his wife.
Anika Jaldas, the victim’s mother, filed a murder case in Sandwip police station as the plaintiff.
The investigating officer of the case is Sub-Inspector working at Sandwip Police Station. Main Uddin Bhuiyan said the husband Samar was absconding after the case was registered after strangling his wife. He was arrested from the local seashore on Tuesday after receiving secret information. In the interrogation, Samar Jaldas said that he got angry and confirmed the death of his wife by strangulation.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sandwip police station, said that the arrested accused was brought to Patabad on a one-day remand. He admitted to killing his wife during interrogation. His statement was also recorded in the court.
