Lalmonirhat: The court has sent five BNP leaders to jail in the murder case of labor leader Jahangir Alam in the strike clash of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila.

Wednesday (April 24) at noon District Session Judge Court. Mizanur Rahman denied bail to five of them and ordered them to be sent to jail.

The five people who went to jail are – General Secretary of Mahendranagar Union BNP of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Abdul Wahab Mandal, Organizing Secretary of the same committee Afzal Hossain, Organizing Secretary of Jubo Dal of the same union Shahanur Alam Sujan, Joint Secretary of the same Union Swachsevak Dal Sohag Patwari, President of the same Union Chhatra Dal.

According to the court police, Jahangir Alam, the leader of Sadar Upazila Load-Unload Sramik Union, was seriously injured in a clash with BNP during the hartal on October 29. Later he was taken to Rangpur Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital where Jahangir Alam died while undergoing treatment. In this incident, on November 1, a murder case was filed at the Sadar police station, citing the names of 81 people, accusing the former deputy minister Asadul Habib Dulu, the organizing secretary of the central BNP.

BNP leaders were on interim bail from the High Court in this murder case. BNP leaders appeared before the Lalmonirhat District and Sessions Judge Court on Wednesday after the expiry of the bail period and applied for bail. Court Judge District Sessions Judge Court Judge Md. Mizanur Rahman denied them bail and ordered them to be sent to court.

Lalmonirhat Court Public Counsel Advocate Akmal Hossain Ahmed confirmed the truth of the incident.

In protest of this, BNP formed a human chain in front of the Lalmonirhat district BNP party office on Wednesday (April 24) at noon. Former deputy minister Asadul Habib Dulu, the organizing secretary of the central committee of BNP attended the human chain and gave a speech.
