A person named Syedul Amin (45) was hacked to death by armed miscreants in Ukhia Kutupalong Rohingya camp of Cox’s Bazar.

He was hacked to death around 6 pm on Tuesday (April 23) near the mosque in D Block of Ukhiya Camp-2W. The name of the dead Rohingya is Syedul Amin, son of Ashraf Ali of A/11 block of that camp.

The matter was confirmed by the OC of Ukhia police station. Shamim Hossain. He said that at around 6 pm on Tuesday, unknown terrorists hacked Syedul Amin in different parts of his body with sharp weapons and ran away from the Rohingya camp. He died on the spot due to excessive bleeding due to sharp weapon injuries.

The OC said that the police are not yet sure who and what caused the murder. However, the police initially believe that the murder was committed due to the domination of the Rohingya camp.

Police have started an operation to arrest those involved in the incident. The body was recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem, said the police official.
