The police recovered the hanging body of an old man named Abdus Chalam Talukdar (65) from a tree in Durgapur of Netrakona.
The old man’s family claims that he was killed and his body was hanged from a tree due to a dispute with the neighbor regarding the land of the house.
The body was recovered from North Charigaon Para village of Bakalzora Union of the upazila on Wednesday (24 April) morning.
The deceased Abdus Chalam is the son of the deceased Ohayed Ali Talukdar of Zaria village of Purbadhala upazila. But he was a resident of North Charigaon Para village of Bakaljora Union.
Talking to the local people and the family of the deceased, it is said that there was a long-standing dispute over the land of the house with the neighboring neighbors. Due to that dispute, there was a fight between the two parties in the last few days. In the meantime, yesterday, the opponents cut down various trees of Chalam and threatened him with death. After praying early this morning, Chalam did not return home. The family members searched and at one point in the morning they found him hanging from a tree in the jungle near the house. After informing the police, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.
Mosharaf Mia, the son of the deceased Shalam, said, “Yesterday, my father is under house arrest.” Hakeem, Mawla, Ainal, Kalam, Shakib can’t go to Namaz for fear of losing Myra. Kyle is staying at another house at night. Abba has not come to pray in the morning. I can’t find Abbare after going to Dehi Abba Jhuila. Myra falche they are my uncle.”
In this regard, Durgapur Circle ASP Md. Akkas Ali said that the dead body of the old man was recovered and sent to Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report.
