Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Thailand today on a six-day official visit. Bilateral meetings will be held with Thailand during the visit. Apart from this, he will attend the 80th Multilateral Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNSCAP). Five documents can be signed between the two countries in the bilateral meeting with Thailand.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit from today (April 24) to April 29 at the invitation of Thailand’s Prime Minister Sretha Tavisin. During the visit, an agreement, three memorandums of understanding and a letter of interest are likely to be signed between the two countries to increase cooperation with Thailand.

Next Friday, the Prime Ministers of the two countries will hold a bilateral meeting at the Government House of Thailand. On that day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the state lunch hosted by the Prime Minister of Thailand as a courtesy. In the presence of the prime ministers of the two countries, there is a possibility of signing an agreement on visa exemption for official passport holders as well as three MoUs on mutual cooperation in energy, tourism and customs cooperation and a letter of interest to start negotiations on a free trade agreement. During the visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also meet King Maha Vajira-Longkorn Phra Vajira-Klachao-Uhua and Queen Sudhida Vajrasudha-Bimala-Lakshan at the Royal Palace of Thailand.

Through this visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for the expansion of trade and increase in import and export between the two countries, review of the ‘Free Trade Agreement’ as well as other matters of common interest – especially in the areas of investment, tourism, energy, land and sea connectivity, development etc. Opportunities will arise.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister will give a special speech on UN Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals at the UNSCAP session tomorrow Thursday at the UN Conference Center in Bangkok. On the same day, there is a courtesy meeting of the Executive Secretary of UNSCAP with the Prime Minister. Finance Minister, External Affairs Minister, Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunication and Information and Communication Technology and others are accompanying the Prime Minister.
