13 days after the incident of murder of autochal in Harbaid area under Pubail police station of Gazipur, Pubail police arrested a youth.
The arrested Mohan Mia (28), son of Manu Mia of Masjidjam village of Ashtagram police station in Kishoreganj.
Md. Kamruzzaman, OC (Officer-in-Charge) of Pubail Police Station informed this information through a press conference at Pubail Police Station on Wednesday (April 24).
The OC said that autorickshaw driver Kabir Hossain (45), a resident of the local Mazukhan area, left the rented house with the car on the evening of April 10 in the interest of livelihood.
Later passenger Seje Mohan and his companions hired an auto-rickshaw from Majukhan area of Pubail to Harbaid. On the way they try to hijack the autorickshaw. When the auto driver stopped, the robbers hit him with a knife and threw him on the side of the road and fled with the auto. Later, the local residents rescued the autorickshaw driver and took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
1 day after the incident, the deceased’s elder brother Zakir Hossain filed a murder case against unknown persons in Pubail police station. In this incident, under the guidance of Deputy Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Crime South Division, Ibrahim Khan, the police identified the accused Mohan by reviewing the footage of various CCTV cameras at the scene and around and around the incident, through the use of information technology.
Through confidential information, we learned that the accused is staying in Jhenaigati area of Sherpur district, after which he was arrested on Wednesday morning.
After taking all legal measures against the accused, the court sent him to jail on Wednesday afternoon.
