Dead body of old man found hanging from tree in Netrakona, family claims murder

The dead body of an old man named Abdus Chalam Talukdar (65) was found hanging from a tree in Durgapur, Netrakona. The family claims that the body was hanged from a tree after being killed due to a land dispute.

The body was recovered from a tree in North Charigaon Para village of Bakaljora Union of the upazila on Wednesday (24 April) morning.

The deceased Abdus Chalam is the son of the deceased Ohayed Ali Talukdar of Zaria village of Purbadhala upazila. But he was a resident of North Charigaon Para village of Bakaljora Union.

According to local people and the family of the deceased, there was a long-standing dispute over the land of the house with the neighboring neighbors. Due to that dispute, there was a fight between the two parties in the last few days. In the meantime, yesterday, the opponents cut down various trees of Chalam and threatened him with death. After praying early this morning, Chalam did not return home. The family members searched and at one point in the morning they found him hanging from a tree in the jungle near the house. After informing the police, the police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Mosharraf Mia, the son of the deceased old man, said, “My father is under house arrest since yesterday.” Hakeem, Mawla, Ainal, Kalam, Shakib can’t go to Namaz for fear of losing Myra. Kyle is staying at another house at night. Abba has not come to pray in the morning. I can’t find Abbare after going there, Dehi Abba Jhuila is on the tree. Myra falche they are my uncle.”

In this regard, Durgapur Circle ASP Md Akkas Ali told the local media that the old man’s body was recovered and sent to the Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report.
