A child Sujan (8) died of burns due to an explosion from a leakage of a gas cylinder while catching a coil in 13 Calvert Road area of Bhashantek, Mirpur of the capital. With this, the death toll in the explosion increased to five. Sujan studied in the second class of Bhashantech BRAC School.
Today, Wednesday (April 24) around 2:15 pm, Sujan died while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

He said that six people, including women and children, were admitted to the emergency department of the burn unit with burns from Mirpur’s Bhashantech. Meanwhile, child Sujan died in the ICU at noon today. 43 percent of his body was burnt. Before this, Meherunnecha died on April 13, Surya Banu on April 15, Liton on April 16 and baby Lamia died in the morning of April 19. Five people have died in this incident so far. Currently, Liza is undergoing treatment in the burn unit with 30 percent burns.
It should be noted that the explosion happened in the early morning of April 12. Later, around 5:30 AM, they were rescued and brought to the emergency department of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
