United States boxer Jinnat Ferdous of Bangladeshi origin has won gold in international boxing competition. He achieved this success on Tuesday in the Nelson Mandela Cup International Boxing held in Durban, South Africa.

Jinnat won the gold medal in the women’s 50 kg weight category by defeating her Ethiopian rival in the final of the event.

Jinnat learned boxing in the United States and developed himself there. However, he participated in this competition as a Bangladeshi contestant. The Bangladesh Boxing Federation has included him as a Bangladeshi. This was said by the general secretary of Bangladesh Boxing Federation, Mazharul Islam Tuhin.

Jinnat also represented Bangladesh in the Hangzhou Asian Games in China in September last year. But could not meet the expectations of the country. In the second round, he was eliminated by a Mongolian opponent.

Four Bangladeshi boxers Salim Hossain, Abu Talha and Hossain Ali along with Jinnat will participate in the Olympics qualifying round in Thailand next month.

Jinnat wore the Bangladesh jersey for the first time last year at Hangzhou Gymnasium. He was hurt by losing the match. He wants to represent Bangladesh better in future.
