A madrasa student named Sifat (18) died while undergoing treatment in the hospital after being attacked by robbers in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.
He died on Tuesday (April 23) night while in the ICU of Dhaka Medical Hospital. Earlier on Friday (April 19) night, the attack took place in Shimrail area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
The deceased Sifat is the son of Jummon Mia of Painadi new Mohalla area of Siddhirganj.
In this incident, Sheikh Al-Imam, the uncle of the victim, filed a case against the two unidentified robbers at the Siddhirganj police station on Monday (April 22) night.
It is mentioned in Ezhar that on the afternoon of April 19, his nephew Sifat went out with his friend Sagar Sheikh (19) as his madrasa was closed. At the end of the tour, they both left for home at 8:45 PM. As soon as they reached the Shimrail intersection of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, two unidentified robbers blocked the way. He then tried to snatch the cash and mobile phone from them. Then the friend who was with the immediate victim managed to escape from the hands of the robbers. Finding the victim alone in such a situation, the killers cut the legs with a sharp knife and inflicted bloody wounds. At one stage of the beating, they snatched Sifat’s 2,000 taka cash and his mobile phone and fled quickly.
The deceased Sifat’s uncle Al-Imam told Jago News, “My nephew died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday night.”
He further said that the body went to Siddhirganj Thana Police Hospital for autopsy. They were not contacted as we were busy.
In this regard, Siddhirganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mozammel Haque told Jago News that efforts are underway to arrest the robbers. They will be arrested soon.
