A bus lost control and got stuck near the railway line due to a head-on collision with a truck in Tangail’s Kalihati. Later, with the intervention of the police, the Panchagarh Express train was stopped and the bus involved in the accident was removed. 5 people were injured in this incident.
The incident took place on Tuesday (April 23) around 2 am in the Hatia area of the upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Setupurba highway. After the incident, railway communication between North Bengal and Dhaka was stopped for some time. After the accident bus was removed, train movement resumed.
According to police sources, there was a head-on collision between Dhaka-bound passenger RP Express Paribahan and a Bangabandhu Bridge-bound truck. The bus lost control and got stuck near the railway line. On receiving information about the accident, the police ordered the Panchagarh-bound Panchagarh Express train to be stopped. Then the train stopped at a distance of 100 meters from the accident bus. Later, after the bus was removed, the train started running again. It is said that there were 35 passengers in the bus.
Bangabandhu Setu East Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Titu Chowdhury said that a bus lost control and got stuck near the railway line as a result of the collision in the Hatia area of the highway. Later, the police quickly contacted the control room and the railways. The Panchagarh Express train leaving Tangail station was stopped. By this the bus is saved from the collision of the train. 5 people were injured in this incident.
