A worker of Chittagong University branch of Chhatra League’s compartment-based Vijay group was beaten up by the workers of his own group. At that time, the victim alleged that they tried to kill him by throwing him from the roof of the residence hall. Ashikuzzaman Joy was beaten up in room 440 of Chabir AF Rahman Hall at around 11 pm last Monday. He is 2018 of Statistics Department of Ch–19 session students. Why is the relationship with the former Joint General Secretary of Chittagong University Branch Chhatra League Mohammad Elias not good?– Allegations have been made against 6 Chhatra League workers for beating the Chhatra League worker named Ashikuzzaman Joy for an hour. The accused are, Student of public administration department. Abdullah Al Zobair, Mamun Mia, a student of Communication and Journalism department, Student of political science department. Faisal Mia (Atish Faisal), Tanay Kanti Sarkar, student of History and Culture of Islam, Shakeel Ahmed of the Department of Development Studies and Russell Raj of the Department of Plant Sciences–Including 15 to 20 people. They are all 2018–19 academic year students.
Victim Ashikuzzaman Joy said, Why is my relationship with brother Elias bad?– By asking such questions they started beating me. 15 more including the accused–20 people beat me together. They came to my room number 440 and tried to kill me. the stick, rod, I was beaten with hockey sticks and chairs. At one point, when I was going to throw it from the roof of the hall, I somehow ran away. Ashiq added, Later I was beaten again at the gate of the hall when I was being taken to the medical ward. The CCTV footage of the hall will prove it. I went to the medical center with the help of 2 seniors in the hall and took treatment. I don’t know when I will recover. I informed the proctor immediately about this, Sir assured me of fair trial. I will give a written complaint.
Accused Tanay Kanti Sarkar told the media, Ashiq is intoxicated. When he went to talk to him about it, the others got angry that he was arguing with everyone and gave him a light beating. I tried to save him as much as possible. To know about this, the leader of a section of Vijay Group, Mohammad Ilyas, tried to be contacted by phone, but he did not respond.
Chabir Assistant Proctor Sourav Saha Joy said, At the time of the incident, the Proctoral Body was informed and went to the spot. But till now we have not received any written complaint from the victim.
