A 6-year-old child named Rahmani died after a sharp knife in his father’s bag entered his stomach in Kahalu, Bogra. The incident took place in Saghatia village of the upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Rahmani Fazil was studying in the first class of the Ibtedayi branch of the Madrasah. Father Abdur Rahim (40) was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon in connection with his death.
According to the police and local sources, Abdur Rahim works to fence the pond with a net. For that he always keeps a sharp knife in his bag. Abdur Rahim was disciplining his daughter Rahmani for not studying on Tuesday morning.
At one point, Rahim hit Rahmani with his bag. At this time, the sharp knife in the bag entered Rahmani’s stomach. He was immediately taken to Kahalu Upazila Health Complex and then to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.
Confirming the matter, Kahalu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Selim Reza said, ‘In this incident, the child’s father has been arrested and brought to the police station. First we got the truth of the incident. Legal action is under process.’
