Mitu’s mother in court

Mother Shaheda Musharraf told the court that her daughter Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was killed because of the extramarital love of former police superintendent Babul Akhtar. Chittagong’s Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Shaheda Musharraf testified in Jasim Uddin’s court. At one stage of giving evidence, he broke down in tears asking for Babul Akhtar’s sentence. At this time, an emotional atmosphere was created in the court.
Babul’s extra-marital relationship with a woman of Indian origin led to mental torture and later planned murder, the childless mother said. In the presence of accused Babul Akhtar, he presented various facts against him. Babul was completely silent against the explosive information of his mother-in-law. Retired police inspector Mohiuddin Mahmud, who was the officer-in-charge (OC) of the city’s Panchlaish police station at the time of the incident, was the first to testify after the hearing of the sensational case began at 12 noon. Then Mitu’s mother Shaheda Musharraf stood in the courtroom to testify.
He said, my elder daughter Mitu got married to Babul Akhter on April 26, 2002. Babul Akter was unemployed at that time. After marriage, their relationship was not so good from the very beginning, it was rough. Later joined the police. Then transferred as SP (Additional Superintendent of Police) to Cox’s Bazar. There he fell in love with a woman of Indian origin. One day Babul Akhtar took Mitu to a hotel in Cox’s Bazar. The woman also got up in the next room. In that woman’s room, Babul Akhtar was seen in an offensive state by Mitu. Then Mitu asks him, what is he doing here? Babul tells Mitu that he is working on the laptop to go abroad. Mitu feels very bad seeing them both in this condition. After some time the kids were alone and Mitu came to their room. After the kids went to sleep, she fell asleep too.
Mitu’s mother also said that Babul went to the mission in 2014. He left a mobile phone at home when he went on a mission. Mitu found the message of the woman of Indian origin given to Babul Akhtar on that mobile phone.
At the same time, Mitu gets two English books gifted by the woman to Babul Akhtar. Mitu writes the messages on two large pages and two small pages. In December 2015, Mitu and her children visited my younger daughter’s house. Mitu then gave me the messages written on the page. After telling us these things, Babul started physical and mental torture on Mitu. After that, Mitu tried to commit suicide three or four times.
Mitu’s mother said, Mitu tried to move from Chittagong home to Dhaka. Mitu called me on the night of June 4, 2016. On the phone, Amma says there is a message from Mahir’s school. I have to take Mahir to school early in the morning. On the morning of June 5, a woman called me from near Mitu’s house. After that, Shaheda started crying uncontrollably. Court bench assistant Neshar Ahmed said that the testimony of 49 witnesses, including Mitu’s mother Shaheda Musharraf, was accepted in Mitu’s murder case. Shaheda Musharraf’s interrogation is pending. Today (Wednesday) the court has fixed the day of the case.
