A young man named Iqbal (20) was stabbed to death in Tarakanda, Mymensingh. Two people were detained by police for questioning in this incident.
The arrested are Kabir Hossain (45), son of A. Rashid Mandal of Majhiali village and Farida Parveen (50), wife of A. Rab (Khokon) alias Khokon Army.
The incident happened at 8 pm on Tuesday (23 April) at Majhiali Bazar in Banihala Union of the upazila.
The deceased youth is the son of Sadekur Rahman alias Sadek Munsi, a grocer of Iqbal Majhiali Bazar. Sadekur Rahman was also injured in this incident. The injured Sadekur Rahman was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment and the doctors on duty referred him to Dhaka for better treatment.
Talking to the locals, it is known that the deceased Iqbal is a grocer of Majhiali Bazaar. On the other hand, the two sons of Ah Rob Khokon of Majhiali village are drug addicts Farooq (23) and Parvez (21). Iqbal was killed in a fight with Farooq for buying goods for money. After some time there Parvez came. At one stage, two brothers seriously injured Iqbal, a grocer, and his father Sadekur Rahman by stabbing him with a sharp knife. At this time, Iqbal was killed on the spot. At that time, the locals rescued the injured Sadekur Rahman and sent him to the hospital. From there, the doctors referred him to Dhaka.
Confirming the matter, Tarakanda Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Wazed Ali said that two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Iqbal by stabbing at a stage of a petty argument. The operation to catch the accused is continuing. Iqbal’s body has been taken into the police station’s custody.
The body of Iqbal, who died on Wednesday (April 24), has been sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
