‘Bangladesh needs 534 billion dollars to combat climate change’

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said Bangladesh needs 534 billion dollars by 2050 to combat climate change.

He said this in a speech given at a session of the National Adaptation Plan Expo 2024 on Tuesday (April 23) emphasizing on the progress of Bangladesh’s National Climate Plan.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury said Bangladesh is committed to working with international partners to build climate resilience. The government is committed to advancing climate adaptation efforts and ensuring a sustainable future for all citizens. He emphasized the importance of proactive action, collaborative efforts and innovative solutions to tackle climate change challenges.

Dr. Environment Secretary presided over it. Farhina Ahmed. CEGIS Executive Director Malik Fida A Khan, ERD Additional Secretary AKM Sohail spoke on the occasion. Climate expert. M. Asaduzzaman spoke on the challenges, opportunities and lessons learned from NAP formulation and implementation in Bangladesh.

Ministry Deputy Secretary Dharitri Kumar Sarkar and Environment Directorate Director Mirza Shawkat Ali presented the National Adaptation Plan of Bangladesh 2023-2050.
