A young man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief in Siddhirganj

In Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, a young man named Babu was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief. He died in hospital on Tuesday (April 23). The incident took place on Monday night in the sand field next to Shamsuddin School in Painadi area.

The deceased Md. Babu (25) is the son of Ibrahim Bepari of Kazirhat village in Shariatpur district and is a tenant of the Patwari’s house in that area.

The police and the relatives of the deceased said that the deceased Babu used to consume drugs. He has been hanging out with drug addicts for a long time. On Monday night, local people came to Babu’s house and called him a thief for stealing the battery of Naf Paribahan kept in the field. Later he was rescued and admitted to a local hospital. He died at the hospital on Tuesday afternoon after his condition deteriorated. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Siddhirganj Police Station Abu Bakkar Siddique said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the dead body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Babu used to take drugs and hang out with drug addicts. The investigation into the beating to death of him is going on. Those involved in the incident will be brought under the law, he said.
