He put on a driving masterclass in the powerplay, collecting 6 boundaries, including two each from Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bishnoi and Matt Henry. The 27-year-old then showed his powerful hitting ability with pull and powerful lofted shots.

Complementing his efforts was Shivam Dubey, who hit 66 sixes off just 27 balls (3×4, 7×6). The pair put on 104 off just 47 balls for the fourth wicket, with CSK scoring 125 in the last 10 overs, but it was not enough to face the wrath of the Stones.
