Symbols will be allotted to 150 parishads of the first phase of the sixth upazila parishad election on Tuesday. Candidates can start campaigning as per the rules only after receiving the symbol. Voting in 150 upazilas will be held on May 8.
Election Commission (EC) deputy secretary of the election management branch. Atiyar Rahman said that the appeal was settled according to the schedule of the first stage on Sunday. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature was Monday (April 22). After selection of nomination papers, 1 thousand 786 candidates have become valid candidates. This number may increase further. Today the symbols will be allotted among the candidates. Candidates can campaign with symbols.
Meanwhile, two thousand and 55 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in the second phase of the upazila polls.
Election Commission Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that 730 people have submitted nomination papers for the post of chairman, 763 people for the post of vice chairman and 562 people for the post of female vice chairman.

Upazila elections of the fourth phase may be scheduled today
According to the schedule for the second phase, the last date for filing nomination papers was Sunday. Selection of nomination papers from 23 April, acceptance of appeals from 24 to 26 April, disposal of appeals from 27 to 29 April. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 30th April. Symbol Allocation Symbol Allocation May 2. Voting in 161 upazilas will be held on May 21.
On the other hand, according to the schedule for the third phase, the last date for submission of nomination papers is May 2, and scrutiny of nominations is May 5. Appeal against decision of Returning Officer 6 to 8 May. Appeal disposal from 9 to 11 May. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is 12 May. Allotment of symbols among the contending candidates is on May 13 and voting is on May 29. In this phase, voting will be held in 112 upazilas of 47 districts.
