Student dies after falling into DU’s swimming pool
A student of philosophy department named Swaad (19) died while taking a bath in the swimming pool of Dhaka University.
The incident took place in the swimming pool adjacent to the central playground of DU on Monday (April 22) at around 2:30 p.m. When his classmates took him unconscious, the doctor declared him dead at 2 o’clock in the morning.
The deceased was a resident of Soad Bogra district. Lived in Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall. His classmates said that he knew how to swim. However, he could not tell how he got into the water. Molla Taimur Rahman, a student of DU, said, ‘Swad is my junior. Sowad came to know from his batchmates that he was suffering from respiratory problems. As a result, despite knowing how to swim, one may suddenly fall ill and die while taking a bath.’
Classmate who was taken to the hospital. Sohag said that many students of DU were taking a bath in the swimming pool in the afternoon. There was swimming going from one side to the other. Then they saw that everyone was surrounding Swaad on the edge of the pool. If you go ahead, you will know that he drowned in the water of the pool. He was immediately rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical. However, the doctor declared him dead after conducting an examination.
The assistant in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp quoted the doctor. Masud confirmed the death.
He said that Soad’s body has been kept in the morgue. The incident is being investigated by Shahbag police station.
