The High Court has granted bail to Tanya Khandkar, wife of Syed Ashfaqul Haque, the former executive editor of Daily Star, who was arrested in the case of the death of a domestic worker.

At the same time, a ruling was issued from the same court asking why Ashfaqul Haque will not be granted bail.

Justice Md. on Monday. The bench of Rezaul Hasan and Justice Fahmida Quader passed the order.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan was for the bail application. Attorney General AM Amin Uddin appeared for the state.

Khurshid Alam told bdnews24.com, “The court has issued the rule; And granted interim bail to Tania Khandkar.”

The couple is currently in jail in a case filed in connection with the death of a domestic worker on February 6. Earlier, they were denied bail in various courts.

Meanwhile, on April 17, the time for submitting the investigation report of this case to the judicial court was extended. The judge ordered to submit it on May 16.

On the morning of February 6, housekeeper Preeti Urang was rescued from the ground floor of a multi-storey house in Shajahan Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, and taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in a bloody state. The doctor said that he died before being taken to the hospital.

Syed Ashfaqul Haque and his family live on the eighth floor of that building.

Preeti’s father Lokesh Orang filed a case in Mohammadpur Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. Syed Ashfaqul Haque and his wife Tanya Khandkar have been made accused in the case. Police arrested Ashfaqul Haque and Tania Khandkar in that case. They were also taken into police remand in this case.

Syed Ashfaqul Haque was dismissed from the Daily Star on April 2.
