Millions of gold was hidden in the clothes of passengers returning to Dubai!

Three people landed at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport from Dubai. Then if suspected, their clothes were seized. Gold was found by burning that cloth, the market value of which is crores of rupees, according to airport officials. The three passengers were arrested in this incident. Customs officials said that the process of filing a case against them in Patenga police station is underway.

Customs and National Security Intelligence Agency (NSI) deployed at the airport jointly seized these gold clothes on Monday (April 22) morning. The three arrested passengers are Mobarak Ali of Chakriar of Cox’s Bazar, Mohammad Nazmul Haque of Satkaniya of Chittagong and Mohammad Anwar Shah of Sandwip.

According to airport sources, the officials suspected the movement of a passenger coming from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At this time, some cloth mixed with gold was recovered from the blanket in his luggage. Later, the luggage of two more passengers was checked and gold-laced cloth was found.

Alif Rahman, Assistant Commissioner of Customs assigned to Shah Amanat Airport, said that gold powder was applied to the cloth in the blanket. A certified goldsmith is called to the airport to separate this gold. He separates the gold by a special method by burning the cloth. It takes him five and a half hours.

Alif Rahman said, after the test, it can be seen that there are 995 grams of gold in the clothes of the three passengers. Apart from this, 15 more gold bangles weighing 297 grams were seized from them. In all, the seized gold weighing 1,292 grams has a market value of Tk 1.4 million.
