Six days after she went missing in Alamdanga, Chuadanga, the police recovered the half-melted body of a 53-year-old woman named Nithri Khatun.
Today (April 22) Monday around 3:30 pm, the body was found hanging from a tree on the bank of an abandoned pond in Durgapur village of Kumari Union of the upazila. The deceased Nithri Khatun is the wife of Abdul Jalil of Durgapur area of Kumari Union of Alamdanga Upazila.

According to police and local sources, Nithri Khatun went missing since last Wednesday evening. His family searched the homes of relatives instead of keeping a general diary at the Alamdanga police station. On Monday afternoon, local residents saw the half-melted body of a woman hanging on a tree near the pond.
Later local people called the National Emergency Service number (999) and reported the matter. On receiving information, the Alamdanga police went to the spot and recovered the body. Meanwhile, after receiving the news of the recovery of the body, the relatives came to the spot and identified the body as that of the missing Nithri Khatun.
Officer-in-charge of Alamdanga police station Sheikh Gani Mia said that the body of the woman was half-melted. After the initial postmortem, the body was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. A case of wrongful death has been registered at the police station in this incident.
