The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has revealed the mystery of gang-rape and murder of child Subarna (8) in Chowhali, Sirajganj, after a long period of seven years.
Sirajganj PBI Police Superintendent Rezaul Karim confirmed this information in a press release at Sirajganj PBI office on Monday (April 22).
Eight youths and teenagers took turns raping the child and killing her by twisting a veil around her neck. The PBI investigation revealed this. Three people involved in this incident were arrested.
The arrested are Sabbir Hossain (20), son of Abdul Haque of Dattakandi village of the upazila, Shakib Khan (21), son of Arfan member and Milan Pasha (27), son of Bachir member. Among them, Sabbir and Saqib have given a confessional statement in the court.
Rezaul Karim said that on March 26, 2017, the child Subarna went to see a cultural program on the occasion of the Great Independence Day in Dattakandi High School grounds of the upazila. There, Milan Pasha, son of Rashid member of that village, along with other accused, saw the child Subarna with Sabbir Hossain and planned to rape her. According to this plan, Sabbir Hossain offered to pay 7000 taka for raping the child. Agreeing to Sabbi’s proposal, Shishu takes Suwarna to the Madhya Shimulia fodder crop field. There they gang-raped the child. Meanwhile, the child kept crying and repeatedly said that she would tell everyone about the rape. After hearing this from the child’s mouth, the rapists wrapped a veil around her neck and strangled her to death and left the body behind.
He also said that the police recovered the body on the morning of March 27. In this incident, the child’s father Shukur Ali filed a case accusing unknown persons. When the police investigated the case and submitted the final report, the plaintiff filed a complaint in the court. Later, the court directed the PBI to investigate the case.
