A rickshaw puller named Abdul Awal (45) died after falling ill while driving a rickshaw in the scorching heat.

On Monday (April 22) afternoon, he fell ill while passing through the road behind Dhaka Nursing College. He was rescued unconscious and brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead around 4:30 pm.

Shahbag police station sub-inspector (SI) Suman said Abdul Awal fell ill while driving the rickshaw. Later he was quickly rescued and brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. We believe he died of heatstroke due to overheating. However, the exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report. The body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

The deceased Abdul Awal is the son of Azam Ali of Sinhagram of Lakhai police station of Habiganj district. He lived in Narayanganj and used to earn his living by driving rickshaws in Shanir Akhra and surrounding areas of the capital.
