The heatwave continues in Chuadanga for several days. The maximum temperature recorded in Chuadanga district was 40.6 degrees Celsius on Monday (April 22). The district administration has issued a heat alert due to heat. It is forbidden to go out of the house without necessity. However, many people are forced to go out of the house in this intense heat due to the need of work.

Meanwhile, in Chuadanga, 2 women died due to heat stroke within an hour of intense heat wave. Both of them are residents of Beguarkhal village of Nagdah union of Alamdanga upazila. Ashura Khatun (25) and Ayesha Begum (70) died at 9:30 am on Monday (April 22) while taking paddy to the field for their husbands.

Locals said that Anwar Hossain of Beguarkhal village went to work in the field without eating in the morning. Around 9:30 AM, wife Ashura Khatun was taking rice to the field for her husband. Before reaching her husband’s field, Ashura Khatun fell to the ground in the field of land. Ashura died before field farmers reached the spot and took him to a doctor.

An hour later, Ayesha Begum, wife of Akkas Ali of the same village, died at 10:30 am. He was panting in the intense heat of the past few days.

Rashedul Islam, a village doctor who was present at the scene, said that Ayesha Begum fell ill after several days of intense heat. Both died of heat stroke.

Meanwhile, Jaminur Rahman, the officer in charge of Chuadanga Meteorological Office, said that the temperature may continue for a few more days. But there is no chance of rain right now. There is not much difference between night and day temperature. Chuadanga is scorching hot most of the day.

Walking around the city of Chuadanga, it can be seen that the common people are less likely to go out during the day. Although the working people came out, they have become unemployed in the empty streets. So many working people are taking shade under the tree in search of tranquility.

Meanwhile, district and upazila administrations are warning pedestrians and local residents by miking in important areas of the city to make the public aware of the intense heat. It is forbidden to go out of the house without necessity. Extra caution is requested for children and the elderly.

Earlier last Saturday (April 20), breaking all the records of the current season, the country’s highest temperature of 42.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga. At that time the air humidity was 18 percent. The number of heat-related patients is increasing day by day in the hospitals and clinics of the district.
