A court sentenced a college girl’s uncle to death for killing her after raping her in Singra Upazila of Natore. At around 11 o’clock on Monday, the judge of Natore Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal, Muhammad Abdur Rahim, announced the verdict. Anisur Rahman said.

Regarding the case, the lawyer for the state side, Anisur Rahman, said that on the morning of August 4, 2019, the family of 16-year-old Reshmi Akhter, a 12th grade student of Rahmat Iqbal College, Singra Bamihal, daughter of Abdur Razzak of Singra Deogacha Uttarpara area, went to her grandfather’s funeral in the neighboring village. Reshmi’s twin younger brother came back from school around 3 pm and found the main gate of the house locked and knocked and the door opened. After entering the house and not seeing her elder sister, she went to the second floor and found her hanging body with a veil around her neck. After that, when he went out to call the man, Shahadat Hossain quickly went to Reshmi’s house from the neighboring chatal. Reshmi’s body was removed from the veil and left in the attic and came down. At that time, when the other members of the house left, the villagers chased Shahadat and arrested him. Later, Shahadat confessed to the villagers that Reshmi was raped and then strangled to death.
Anisur said that Sonavan Bibi, the victim’s mother filed a case at Singra police station as the plaintiff.
After the investigation of the case, the SI of Singhra police station. Rafiqul Islam and Inspector Md. When Monirul Islam submitted the charge sheet to the court on October 31, 2019, the trial of this case began.
