A student named Muhammad Sawad (19) died after drowning in the swimming pool of Dhaka University. The deceased was a student of Mohsin Hall in the first year of the philosophy department of Sowad DU.

The incident took place in the swimming pool of the university’s physical education center on Monday around two o’clock in the afternoon. The director of physical education center confirmed the matter. Shah Jahan Ali.

He said that students of different halls were bathing in the swimming pool together. Many were jumping. Sowad was also mischievous with his friends, jumping on the shoulders. Couldn’t get up by jumping. I immediately sent to Dhaka Medical. Later the doctor on duty declared him dead. We are trying to get more details.

He further said, this is a very undesirable incident. This has not happened in the last few years.

A student named Molla Taimur Rahman said, ‘Sawad’s classmates were trying to force out the water by pressing his stomach. Sowad came to know from his batchmates that he was suffering from respiratory problems. As a result, despite knowing how to swim, one may suddenly fall ill and die while taking a bath.’

Two students named Sohag and Sagar who were present at the scene said that when we were swimming with our friends in the central swimming pool of Dhaka University in the afternoon due to the heat, Soad suddenly drowned in the water. Later, he was rescued and brought to Dhaka Medical, where the doctor on duty declared him dead at twenty-two.

Assistant in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp. Masud said that Soad’s body has been kept in the morgue. The incident is being investigated by Shahbag police station.
