A father and son were killed in a shootout by armed terrorists in Gorznia, Ramur, Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place in Ghonarpara village of Thoyingakata area of ​​Gorznia Union of Ramur in the early hours of Monday (April 22).

The deceased are Zafar Alam (55) son of deceased Nurul Islam and his son Mohammad Salim (33) of Thwayingakata area of ​​Ward No. 3 of Gorznia Union.

According to local sources, cows have been smuggled from Myanmar for the past few years. Most of the cows come through the Naikshyongchari border in hilly Bandarban. Later it was supplied to various areas including Eidgaon of the district through Gorznia, Kachchhia, Eidgarh in Ramur. A few groups face each other in these areas around illegal Burmese cattle trafficking. In such an incident father and son may have been killed.

Immediately after the incident, Gorznia outpost police rushed to the spot and recovered the two bodies and first took them to Naikshyongchari Hospital. From there, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station Abu Taher Dewan confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the operation to arrest those involved is ongoing.

Recently, two more murders took place in Gorznia and Kachpia due to cow smuggling. However, due to last night’s murder of a father and son, the situation is tense in the whole area.
