Chirag Duhan advances to quarter-finals at Tunisian men’s ITF tournament

Chirag Duhan defeated Jonas Keck and Arian Jeet Singh 6-4, 6-2 in the doubles quarterfinals of the ITF Men’s Tennis Championships in Monastir, Tunisia along with France’s Nicolas Tepmahok.

However, in the singles match, Chirag lost to Ilya Simakin in the first round by a score of 6–1, 7–6(3).

$40,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Championship Results

Sahaja Jamalapalli overcame a tough start to beat Srivalli Vamidipti 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the $40,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Championship at the Ganesh Naik Sports Center on Wednesday.

It is a match that is expected to be on fire, with Sahaja and Srivalli having recently won the singles titles in Solapur and Bangalore respectively.

The 23-year-old Sahaja took control of the match with a 5-3 lead, but Srivalli saved four set points in the ninth game and went on to win the set in four straight games.

Sahaja responded by winning 10 of the next 11 games to take a 4-0 lead in the third set. The 22-year-old Srivalli fought back to win two consecutive games to close the gap, but Sahaja won the next two games to end the contest in 2 hours 30 minutes.

Sahaja will face Japan’s Naho Sato in the quarter-finals.

Vaidehi Chowdhury defeated qualifier Ekaterina Kazionova to advance to the second round against top seed Ekaterina Makarova Makarova).

Jasmine Lamboria overcame Olympian Simranjit Kaur in a strong challenge, winning 4-3 and winning the 60kg championship during the National Women’s Boxing Championship at the Gautam Buddha University Sports Center in Greater Noida on Wednesday.

In a battle between two fierce rivals, Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Jasmine moved well and punched from distance, while Simranjeet struggled to hit the mark.

Jasmin received a favorable verdict after the review of the fight and was declared the ‘Best Boxer’.

In the 66kg title fight between two former world youth champions, Arundhati Chaudhary defeated Ankush Boro 5-0.

Former world silver medalist Sonia Lathar gave it her all to win the 57kg title by beating two-time world junior champion Sakshi Chowdhury 4-3.

Olympian Pooja Rani marked her return to competitive boxing with a gold medal in the 75 kg category.
