Laxmipur: Law and order forces could not arrest Kazi Mamunur Rashid Bablu, the main accused in the murder case of Chhatra League leader M Sajib in Chandraganj of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. Leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League and allied organizations have expressed their anger that no arrests have been made even after 9 days of the incident.
Accused Kazi Bablu is the convenor of Chandraganj Police Station Volunteers League and former convener of Thana Chhatra League.
District Volunteer League President Belayet Hossain Belal told Banglanews that Kazi Mamunur Rashid Bablu is the main accused in a murder case. I have informed the Central Volunteer League about this. Asked me to send a letter of recommendation for his release from the party. I have sent the letter. We hope that organizational measures will be taken in this regard within two days.
Chandraganj Thana Chhatra League and Kofil Uddin University College Chhatra League formed a human chain in Chandraganj Bazar at 11 am on Sunday (April 21) demanding the trial of Sajib’s murder and the trial of the main accused Kazi Mamunur Rashid Bablu. Awami League leaders and activists were present at that time.
In the hour-long human chain, the speakers demanded the hanging of Kazi Bablu. At the same time, the speakers expressed anger and dissatisfaction as Bablu was not arrested. He has also been demanded to be expelled from the party.

Chandraganj UP Chairman Nurul Amin said, I am drawing the attention of the Prime Minister to bring the killer Bablu under the law. Besides, I strongly demand his expulsion from the party.
Union Awami League president Ghiyas Uddin Liton said, we will continue the movement on the streets until the killer Dakat Bablu is arrested.
Chandraganj Thana Awami League vice-president M Chhabir Ahmed Bablu sought the intervention of the district Awami League president and general secretary to bring the forces under the law and said that we will not leave the streets unless the killers are arrested. It is known that Sajib Chandraganj, the victim of the murder, was a candidate for president of Kofil Uddin University College Chhatra League. He is the son of deceased Siraj Mia of Panchpara village of Chandraganj. Chhatra League leader Sajib, Saiful Patwari, Md. Miscreants ambushed Rafi and Saiful Islam Joy. At one point Sajib was shot at. While trying to save him, others are accused of firing. Later, the four injured people were taken to Sadar Hospital by the locals. The doctor on duty at the hospital sent Sajeeb, Saiful and Rafi to Dhaka for better treatment. Later on Tuesday (April 16) around 2 am, Sajib died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Dhaka.
The family and party leaders alleged that Rashid Bablu and members of his forces killed Sajib, the leader of Swachhasevak League, Kazi Mamunur, in order to dominate the area.
In this incident last Monday (April 15) night Sajib’s mother Buli Begum filed a case naming 11 people including the convener of Chandraganj Thana Volunteer League Kazi Mamunur Rashid Bablu and member secretary Tajul Islam Taju Bhuiyan. In this, 20 people were made unknown accused. The police have arrested five people including the accused Taju Bhuiyan, Farooq Hossain, Rezaul Karim Babu and Ibrahim.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Chandraganj Police Station Shahed Alam told Banglanews that the murder case is under investigation. Five accused have been arrested in this case. An operation is underway to arrest the rest of the accused.
