A rickshaw puller died in Sylhet due to heatstroke. Today, Sunday (April 21), around 11:30 am, Hanif passed out due to heat near the police box in South Surma Lawia, Sylhet. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, he was declared dead by the doctor on duty.
The name of the deceased rickshaw driver. Abu Hanif Mia (34). He is a resident of Shibpur Namahati village of Lakhai in Habiganj. He lived in South Surma area of Sylhet city.
Sylhet Dakshin Surma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yardous Hasan said that a rickshaw driver fell unconscious near the police box in South Surma’s Lawia. Locals and police rescued him and took him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.
The OC said that the doctors said that the deceased rickshaw driver died due to heat. His family members have been informed.
Soumitra Chakraborty, deputy director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, said that it is not certain whether the rickshaw puller died of heat stroke or not. He suddenly fell unconscious while driving a rickshaw. He later died after being brought to the hospital.
Soumitra Chakraborty said, there is excess heat, but that rickshaw driver may have died due to some other reason. An autopsy may be performed to determine the cause of death. Because many people would have been admitted due to heat stroke due to excessive heat.
