Sylhet: Two children named Rihan Ahmad Yasin (10) and Yusuf Ruhan (11) died after drowning in Sylhet’s Biswanath Upazila. The accident happened on Sunday (April 21) around 5:00 pm in the pond of Upazila Sadar.
The deceased are Rihan Ahmad Yasin, son of Siraj Mia of Barhatta upazila of Netrakona district and Yusuf Ruhan, son of Titon Mia of the same village. Locals said that they are cousins.
According to local sources, Rihan and Ruhan were staying with their family in a rented house in a colony in Chansirkapan village of ward number seven of Vishwanath town headquarters. Rihan and Ruhan entered the water in the upazila sadar pond around five o’clock on Sunday afternoon. At one stage, their search began. After some time their bodies were found floating in the water of the pond. Later they were rescued and taken to Bishwanath Upazila Health Complex. The emergency department doctor declared them dead there.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Biswanath Police Station Rama Prasad Chakraborty confirmed this information to BanglaNews and said that two children drowned while taking a bath at the pond ghat. The bodies of the victims were taken by relatives for burial without post-mortem.
