A teenager was hacked to death in Brahmanbaria, 4 arrested

A teenager named Badsha Mia (17) was publicly hacked to death by scoundrels in Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar. The police said that the murder happened due to harassment of a girl. Four more people were injured in this incident. Two of the injured have been sent to Comilla and Dhaka in a critical condition.

According to the police, local residents, a teenage girl from Dhaka came to visit Abu Kalam Mia’s neighbor Miad’s house in the western neighborhood of Badda village in Salimganj union of the upazila. Anik and his friends of the village try to establish a relationship with the girl. On the other hand, Saiful, Jihad, Tarek and his friends of the village used to talk to the girl. On Friday, an argument and fight took place between the two parties over talking to the girl. Meanwhile, King Mia was outside the village for a feast. The matter was brought to the attention of the village elders but they did not take any action.

At around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, Anik’s supporters went to a tea shop in front of Badda Paschim Para Government Primary School to search for the girl and clashed. Meanwhile, Saiful was seriously injured in an ambush by Anik’s men. When the King screamed, the attackers slashed him and seriously injured him and killed Tariq and Jihad one by one. Later, the locals took the seriously injured to the local hospital and the doctors on duty sent them to Comilla and Dhaka for better treatment. Badshah Mia died while taking Dhaka.

In this incident, the victim’s sister Popi Akhter filed a murder case with Nabinagar police station mentioning the names of 21 people as the plaintiff.

Police have arrested four people named Russell Mia (32), Yunus Mia (35), Shakeel Ahmed (19) and Masud Mia (20) in this incident.

Popi Akhtar, the plaintiff in the case, said, Badsha is the only brother among our three sisters. He was due to go abroad in a few months. My brother was not involved in the girl’s incident. Still they called my brother from home and hacked him to death.

Nabinagar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sirajul Islam said that Badshah was killed for harassing a girl. A case has been filed against 21 people, mainly Anik, in this incident. Police have already arrested four people. Police are working to arrest the rest. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
