The incident took place in Jathia village of the upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased Ashok Mondal (35) is the son of deceased Kalachand Mondal of Jathia village of the upazila.
Ashok Mondal’s mother Urmila Mondal said, I went to sleep around 10 o’clock on Sunday night. At that time I saw my elder son Ashok and younger son Asim Mandal watching TV. Then suddenly I was woken up by the screams of my younger son Asim Mandalal. Then my younger son Asim was screaming holding Ashok’s throat cut body on the balcony of the house. Then when we left the house to take Ashok to the hospital, he died.
Harichand Mondal, businessman of Tarashi village, said, Ashok Mondal is my cousin. He was a simple man. But sometimes he was a little drunk. As far as I know – he has no enemies.
Kotalipara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Feroz Alam said, We have already started an investigation into the murder of Ashok Mandal. Hopefully, very soon we will be able to uncover the real reason for this murder. The body has been sent to Gopalganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
