In Dinajpur, husband killed his wife and one child out of anger over child abuse. Another child is under treatment in this incident. The police have arrested the killer father Shahidul Islam (37) on the charge of murder.
Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed gave this information in a press conference at Dinajpur Police Superintendent’s office on Sunday (April 21). Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mominul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police of DSB Sifat-e Rabban, Additional Superintendent of Police of Dinajpur Sadar Circle Jinnah-al Mamun, Birampur Circle ASP Manjurul Islam were present.
The arrested Shahidul Islam is the son of Sohrab Ali of Hayatpur Chinirchara village of Nawabganj upazila. His wife Morjina Begum (30), his daughter Afrin (5) were killed in this incident. Another child, Al Amin (21), is admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RAMEC) with serious injuries.
The Superintendent of Police informed that a case will be filed against Shahidul Islam under Penal Code Section-325/326/307/302/34 for admitting the murder.
Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed said that Shahidul Islam is a Kathuria by profession. As usual on April 20, he left home at 8 am to cut wood and returned home before evening. Shahidul Islam forbade Morjina Begum to abuse her children while listening to music on her mobile phone before leaving for Daudpur market after coming home and eating sweets and sweets. At one stage of the argument Morjina hit Begum on the back of the head with a thick bamboo stick. When Morjina Begum fell on the ground, the children came forward. At that time, he first hit his six-year-old daughter Afrin Jannat on the head with the bamboo stick and then hit his 11-year-old son Al-Amin on the head. Later, when they fell in the courtyard with bloody injuries, Shahidul Islam went to Daudpur market with his used bicycle.
Later, at around 9 o’clock in the night, the accused Shahidul came to the house to divert the incident and kept shouting that someone had inflicted serious bloody injuries on his wife and children. At that time, the local people came and found the wife Morjina Begum dead and rescued the two children with serious injuries and first admitted them to the Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex. Later, when they were sent to Ramek Hospital in the night, their daughter Afrin Jannat died while undergoing treatment.
In this incident, when the police spoke to Shahidul Islam at night, he was interrogated further after finding inconsistencies in his words. Once Shahidul confessed to having hurt his wife and child and the police arrested him.
