Argument over listening to music on mobile, wife and children beaten to death

The police arrested the killer Shahidul Islam (37) for beating his wife and children to death in Dinajpur’s Nawabganj. Superintendent of Police (SP) Shah Iftekhar Ahmed gave this information in a press conference at the Superintendent of Police office on Sunday (April 21st).

Earlier on Saturday, Shahidul Islam hit his wife Morjina Begum (30) and then two children on the head with a bamboo stick after being annoyed by listening to music on mobile phone and abusing the children. The mother died on the spot and the daughter was under treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed said that the accused Shahidul came home and shouted that someone had seriously injured his wife and children. At that time, local residents rescued Morjina Begum dead and her two children injured and admitted them to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex. When the condition worsened, they were sent to Ramek Hospital at night. Daughter Afrin Jannat died early Sunday morning while undergoing treatment there.

In this incident, when the police spoke to Shahidul Islam on the day and night of the incident, they found inconsistencies in his speech and questioned him extensively.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Mominul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police DSB Sifat-e Rabban, Additional Superintendent of Police Dinajpur Sadar Circle Jinnah-al Mamun, Birampur Circle ASP Manjurul Islam were present in the press conference.

Arrested Shahidul Islam son of Sohrab Ali of Hayatpur Chinirchara village of Nawabganj upazila. The mother of Morjina Begum, who was killed in this incident, Rosyna Begum (50) filed a murder case as the plaintiff.
