A young man named Ashok Mondal (35) was killed by the miscreants after entering his house late at night in Kotalipara of Gopalganj.
The incident took place in Jathia village of the upazila on Sunday (April 21) night.
Ashok Mandal, the victim of murder, is the son of the deceased Kalachand Mandal of Jathia village of Kotalipara upazila.
Ashok Mondal’s body was recovered and sent to Gopalganj 250-bed general hospital morgue for post-mortem, said Kotalipara Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Firoz Alam.
Ashok Mondal’s mother Urmila Mondal said, “I fell asleep around 10 pm. At that time I saw my elder son Ashok and younger son Asim Mondal watching TV. Then suddenly I was woken up by the screams of my younger son Asim Mandal. Then the little boy Asim was screaming holding Ashok’s throat cut body on the balcony of the house. We then left to take Ashok to the hospital and he died as soon as he left the house.”
Harichand Mondal, a businessman of Tarashi village, said, “Ashok Mondal is my cousin. He was a simple man. But he used to get a little drunk now and then. As far as I know, he has no sex.”
OC Muhammad Firoz Alam said, “We have already started the investigation into the murder of Ashok Mandal. We hope to reveal the real reason for the murder very soon.”
He further said, “Ashok Mondal’s body has been sent to Gopalganj morgue for post-mortem.”
