This year there is Women’s T20 World Cup. The host country of this World Cup to be held in October is Bangladesh. And BCB has started preparations for that occasion. A five-member ICC delegation arrived in Bangladesh to see the World Cup venue this time. These five members set foot in Dhaka yesterday Sunday.
Mirpur Sher-e Bangla Cricket Stadium is along with Sylhet Cricket Stadium in the list of possible World Cup venues. And they will visit Mirpur today on the first day. After that, this delegation will observe the Sylhet venue tomorrow, Tuesday. Habibul Bashar Sumon, Head of Women’s Division of BCB, confirmed this to Dhaka Post.
Members of the five-member delegation to Bangladesh are: Women’s World Cup Event Operations Manager Gurjit Singh, Pitch Consultant Andy Atkinson, Commercial & Sponsorship Department Laila Stein, Hospitality Department Alana White and Security Specialist David Musker.
After 10 years, Bangladesh is going to host the Women’s T20 World Cup again. The decision was taken at the end of the 2022 ICC Annual Meeting held in Birmingham. In the meantime, Australian women have visited Bangladesh as part of the preparations ahead of the World Cup. The tour of India women’s team is ahead.
